The Illuminati card game has become infamous for its uncanny predictions that seem to have come true. While some can be explained away as coincidence, others are so precise that it makes us wonder, is there some high strangeness at play here?

What is the Illuminati Card Game?

A selection of some of the controversial cards from the Illuminati card game

The Illuminati card game, officially titled "Illuminati: New World Order," was released by Steve Jackson Games in 1994. It gained attention for its intriguing theme centered around secret societies and world domination. The game casts players as puppet-masters manipulating various factions in pursuit of global control on behalf of their chosen secret society, such as the Bavarian Illuminati, the Discordian Society, UFOs, Servants of Cthulhu, the Bermuda Triangle, and the Gnomes of Zurich.

Drawing inspiration from the company's earlier 1982 board game and the "The Illuminatis! Trilogy" fantasy novels by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson, the goal of the Illuminati card game was to develop and consolidate power structures, ruling the world from the shadows. Players aimed to manipulate society and strike devastating blows to their opponents to achieve victory. The game quickly gained popularity for its unique theme and strategic gameplay.

Predictions from the illuminati Cards

It appears that the Illuminati game is more than just a card game. Furor has erupted online claiming that the cards predicted numerous events from the last 30 years that its creators could not possibly have known were coming. Here are some of the cards that have sparked the most controversy:

The Terrorist Nuke Card

This card depicts an attack on the Twin Towers in New York City, 7 years before the devastating attacks on September 11th, 2001. While the 9/11 attacks were caused by 747 airliners, not nukes, the image on the card is eerily similar to photos taken on the day.

The Pentagon Card

In the same vein as the Terrorist Nuke card, the Pentagon card depict the US pentagon under attack. On September 11, 2001, terrorists associated with the extremist group al-Qaeda hijacked American Airlines Flight 77, a Boeing 757, shortly after it took off from Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia. The hijackers then deliberately crashed the plane into the western side of the Pentagon, the headquarters of the United States Department of Defense, in Arlington, Virginia.

The Princess Di Card

The fact that the card game features Princess Diana is not strange at all considering her huge impact on pop culture in the early 90s. What is strange is the cards caption, claiming that she is "immune to attacks by your rivals' Peaceful or Liberal groups…except for the media".

Princess Diana was killed in a car accident 1997, 3 years after the games release, while trying to escape from paparazzi in the Pont de l'Alma tunnel in Paris, France.

The Oil Spill Card

While oil spills have been a fairly common ecological disaster in the last 30 years, one in particular stands out. The BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill, which occurred in 2010 in the Gulf of Mexico, is considered one of the largest environmental disasters in history. It released millions of barrels of oil into the ocean over a period of several months, causing extensive damage to marine ecosystems, wildlife, and coastal communities.

Interestingly, some of the birds worst affected by the BP oil spill bear a striking resemblence the the bird depicted on Oil Spill card in the illuminati game.

The Combined Disasters Card

Some believers claim that the "Combined Disasters" card from the game looks like it shows the huge earthquake and tsunami that happened in Japan in 2011.

The card shows a city in complete devastation with the clock set to 2/11. On 3/11/2011, Japan was hit by an earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear disaster, all occurring on the same day.

Some believe the clock tower in the picture is the Wako tower in Tokyo's Ginza shopping area. While Tokyo was not affected by the disaster, the tower is a highly recognizable building in Japan.

The Charismatic Leader Card

Some believers have pointed out the resemblance between the leader on the Charismatic Leader card and President Donald Trump, who rose to power on the back of his strong charisma.

The Epidemic Card

The Epidemic card has been interpreted as predicting the COVID19 pandemic that shut down the world in 2020.

There are many other cards that have been said to predict various things over the last 30 years. This website has pictures of each card if you want to do some of your own investigations.

The Rewriting History Card

The rewriting history card has been claimed to predict the scandal regarding Republicans in the United States rewriting the history books in Texas schools to better fit their ideology. More right wing proponents have claimed this card relates to the removal of confederate statues and other sources of information about the confederacy in an effort to erase this part of the nation’s history.

Possible Explanations

The most likely, and most boring explanation is that the events depicted on the cards are just the most likely ways these disasters would play out in real life. For example, if you want to attack the US, the World Trade Center and the Pentagon are prime targets. If you want to indoctrinate a population rewriting the history books in your favor can help.

Other events are just disasters that happen to humanity periodically such as pandemics and natural disasters. Population reduction is a natural response to a species decimating their environment in the way we have done.

These logical explanations however don’t completely explain away the predicitons made by the Illuminati cards. The specificity of some of the illustrations in particular is quite shocking. What other elements of could possibly be at play?

Remote Viewing and the Akashic Record

It’s possible that the creators of the Illuminati board game were unknowingly influenced by something we don’t fully understand. Perhaps when conjuring the images in their imagination for some of the cards the illustrator may have tapped into some source of knowledge about the future.

The Akashic record is believed by some to be a metaphysical compendium containing the entirety of cosmic knowledge and events, accessible to those with psychic abilities or through deep spiritual practices. Perhaps the illustrator inadvertently tapped into something like the Akashic Record while coming up with images for the game.

In a similar vein perhaps the illustrator inadvertently was able to see the future by remote viewing. Remote viewing is a practice where individuals attempt to gather information about a distant or unseen target using extrasensory perception or psychic abilities.

In the 1990s, public interest in remote viewing grew when secret documents from the Stargate Project were made public. This project was backed by the U.S. government with $20 million to study if psychic abilities could be useful for military purposes.

Actual Knowledge of Clandestine Government Affairs

Another interesting, yet non-paranormal theory is that the creators of the game had acquired some secret knowledge about what governments were planning to do in the coming years and released this information in the form of a board game to warn the public, without drawing too much attention to themselves.

This theory is given a bit of credibility by the face that the creators of the Illuminati game were investigated by the Secret Service in 1990.

In October 1988, Bell South, an American telecomunications company, found out that a private document about its 9-1-1 system was shared on a bulletin board system (BBS) in Illinois. They reported this to the Secret Service in July 1989. In February 1990, the Secret Service discovered that the document was also posted on the "Phoenix" BBS in Austin, Texas, run by Loyd Blankenship, who worked for Steve Jackson Games and moderated their "Illuminati" BBS. The Secret Service thought there was a good reason to search Blankenship's and Steve Jackson Games's computers, so they got a search warrant on February 28. They searched Steve Jackson Games on March 1, 1990, and took three computers and over 300 floppy disks, including the original version of GURPS Cyberpunk, a game written by Blankenship. The "Illuminati" server had personal emails of Steve Jackson Games employees. Everything was returned in June 1990.

Predictions That Are Still to Happen from the Illuminati Cards

So after all this, do you believe the Illuminati cards are able to predict the future? If they are here is some wild speculation about a few things that could still be in store for us in 2024 and beyond:

With ever increasing climate destruction, perhaps a major terrorist attack will be undertaken by an Eco-Guerilla group.

Perhaps California and Japan are soon to be attacked by a “robot sea monster”, or perhaps some sort of more mundane submarine weaponry.

Perhaps somewhere with buildings resembling this image will have a very destructive earthquake?

Maybe this card could predict a disastrous fire at some kind of annual convention?

Could martial law be coming for the United States? Things do seem to be locked in a downward spiral.

Could there be another big nuclear accident on the cards?
