The Fresno Nightcrawler is a cryptid that seems to be like a long pair of legs and not much else. While sounding a bit ridiculous there have been at least two instances of it being captured on video. Is there really a strange cryptid out there or is the Fresno Nightcrawler just another internet hoax?

Description of the Fresno Nightcrawler

The Fresno Nightcrawler has humorously been described as looking like a haunted pair of pants. It is described as being pale in color and being anywhere for 0.5-2 meters tall.

It is very skinny and has no arms, just very long legs. Some nightcrawlers appear to have some sort of webbing connecting their legs to their torso.

Some people who have seen a Fresno Nightcrawler claim it moves in a similar way to a daddy long legs spider.

Fresno Sighting of the Fresno Nightcrawler

The first reported sighting of the Fresno Nightcrawler was by a man named Jose in Fresno California in 2007.

Jose was asleep one night when he was suddenly awoken by dogs barking outside his window. He looked at his CCTV cameras to make sure there was no one skulking around his property when he was greeted with an unfamiliar sight.

He saw a strange, lanky, white creature that appeared to just be a very long pair of legs. Startled by this discovery Jose woke up his brother to come and look at the footage.

His brother looked at the video and then went outside to see if there was any evidence left behind by the creature. Jose’s brother found several tiny footprints in the yard.

The brothers called in some paranormal investigators to see if they could figure out what the creature was but by the time they had arrived the footprints had been washed away in the rain.

After the sighting Jose was not able to figure out how to duplicate the security footage before it was overwritten but he was able to record the monitor with another camera leading to the quite distorted version available today. You can watch it here:

Other Sightings of the Fresno Nightcrawler

A similar creature to the Fresno Nightcrawler was spotted just a few years later in 2011 in Yosemite National Park.

A retired couple were having trouble with break-ins on their property so they bought a security camera and pointed it at their driveway.

The creatures are described and being alien looking and stick-like. You can see the footage here:

There have been lots of other videos that have appeared on YouTube that seem to be of similar creatures but it is hard to know what is genuine and what is faked with video manipulation.

In the comments of these videos you can find several people stating they have seen similar creatures in real life.

Possible Explanations for the Fresno Nightcrawler

Skeptics will tell you that all of the stories and footage of the Fresno Nightcrawlers are just made up for views and internet clout.

Several youtubers have put together videos attempting to recreate similar footage with things like pants and fishing line or by editing out the top half of a persons body. These videos make it seem plausible that the “genuine” videos could have been faked in a similar way.

Conversely there are a number of people in the comments on these videos who claim to have seen something similar in real life. Are they all just making it up or could there be more to it?

Paranormal investigator Victor Chamaco believes the Fresno Nightcrawler could be an alien insectoid living in the shadows of our planet and coming out only at night time to avoid being seen.

Other people have suggested that perhaps the sightings of the Fresno Nightcrawler could just have been deer standing on their hind legs.

Some people online have speculated that the Fresno Nightcrawler originated in Native American mythology but this has since been proven to be untrue.
